Meet Luke

Meet Luke. Luke is a neutered, two year old Labrador Retriever Mix that arrived to the shelter as a stray on September 1, 2017. This sweet boy is the mellow one in a crowd and is content just hanging out. At approximately 60lbs, Luke would make a great companion for someone looking for a medium energy dog to take adventuring and who also enjoys chilling out at home.

Founded in 1863, the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control now has a total of seven animal care centers that serve the Los Angeles county area. Most of the animals available are either strays or have been surrendered by their owners who are no longer able to care for them. Although adopting directly from a shelter can prove to be challenging, the satisfaction of having saved the life of a shelter animal often far outweighs any of those challenges.

What is DACC’s mission?
The Department of Animal Care & Control promotes and protects public safety and animal care through sheltering, pet placement programs, education, and animal law enforcement. Our purpose is to provide responsive, efficient, and high-quality animal care and control services that preserve and protect public and animal safety.
