When we shop for our four dogs, we want to #shopwhereitmatters. There’s nothing more important to us than knowing where our money is going or who it’s benefitting. It’s one of the reasons were prefer to shop at local Farmer’s Markets as opposed to grocery store chains, because we know we’re helping to support a farmer, a family and a dream. Instagram has proven to be an incredible source for finding small businesses that likewise not only have big dreams of their own, but are truly kindhearted and share a portion of their profits with those in need.
Rag + Hound is one of our favorite shops for unique and bold bandanas. The effort and integrity they put forth in their products is clearly evident in the little things, such as waxed threading and meticulous cuts. Not only Rag + Hound’s products top notch, but their customer service and prompt communication surpasses expectations. As if this shop wasn’t special enough, they also contribute $1 from every bandana sale to local shelters like Homeward Pets in Seattle and have donated over $1,000 to non-profits to date. In times of distress, Rag + Hound also stepped up and doubled their contributions to aid in rescue efforts during Hurricane Harvey.
We can’t recommend Rag + Hound enough to all of our friends who are looking to dress their pets in only the best. They’ve recently launched an incredible Pendleton® collection that is definitely one for the books! Whether you’re shopping for your pups, your friends or yourself this season, be sure to make Rag + Hound your first stop. We also spoke to Rag + Hound’s leading lady, Caitlin, to help our readers get to know this unique brand a little more intimately.
When was Rag & Hound founded?
RH started in the fall of 2016, our first birthday is actually coming up in October! Hard to believe it’s been a year already, time flies when you’re having fun!
What is Rag + Hound’s mission?
The whole goal is create bandanas people love and dogs love to wear, but also to give back to the community.
What makes Rag + Hound unique?
Probably the most ‘unique’ aspect is that RH is a one-woman show. I started RH last year because I had a “little” extra time on my hands, but I never imagined RH would grow so much in 1 year! Running RH includes everything from making bandanas and shipping orders, to creating the website, taking product photos and managing social media — somehow I manage this in addition to having a full-time business career and staying active with my German Shepherd, Guinness (RH’s honorary CEO). Fun fact, Guinness was a rescue himself (he was a stray).
What are Rag + Hound’s achievements?
RH was a Guardian Angel Kennel Sponsor at Homeward Pet for the first half of 2017. It was such an honor! Another achievement has been shipping our products to over 20 countries across the world.
What future goals is Rag + Hound working towards?
One of the current goals is expanding to retail stores! In fact there are several shops we are talking with that will make this goal a reality very soon!
Are there any new products in the works that we can look forward to?
Besides new prints, this fall/winter we are adding official ‘human-size’ scarves! You and your pup can accessorize together!
